POSSIBILITIES AND WAYS OF ADJUSTING DRAMA TECHNIQUES FOR CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DIFFICULTIES

The inclusion of children and young people in the drama activities and the use of drama in the educational process brings with it many benefits. But children of typical development, in contrast to children with disabilities, have a greater availability to use all the positive aspects of drama education. The inclusion of children and young people with disabilities in the drama activates is often reduced to the good will of the drama teacher. There are many reasons for this, and the most significant is primarily the lack of literature, and then education as an important element of support for drama teachers to work with children with disabilities. The aim of this lecture is creating a universal design, an approach to product design (in the broadest sense) that would be most useful to all people, without the need for customization or any special design.

Andrea Damjanić Firšt has a master's degree in educational rehabilitation and is university specialist in drama pedagogy. She participates in the founding of the Center for Theater of the Oppressed POKAZ, where she works as a program manager. She is one of the authors of the manual Forum kazalište in working with children and young people. She leads workshops and trainings on the application of various methods of the theater of the oppressed in working with children and young people. Also she raises awareness of the importance of including children and youth with developmental disabilities in the work of drama groups and leads workshops on this topic. She holds the workshop Drama work with children with developmental disabilities at the post-graduate specialist study of Drama Pedagogy at the Faculty of Teacher Education in Zagreb. She currently works in an elementary school in Zagreb as a teacher and educational rehabilitator in a special class and applies drama techniques in her daily work with children with developmental disabilities.

Maja Sviben

LET'S GET PHYSICAL!

While the world (finally!) moved back to our physical reality, where we can go out and spend time with other people, there are still occasions when we need to do some work or teaching online... this workshop is envisaged as a collection of fun games and exercises that get you moving in and around your computer screens - it is possible to do it sitting down, believe it or not!

We'll find reasons to get both movement and our creative juices flowing, play with common household objects and make short improvised scenes tailored specifically for an online environment.

The workshop is aimed at anyone who works with children (or children at heart!) and enjoys a creative challenge!

Although primarily educated as a dramaturg/playwright/screenwriter, Maja Sviben has more than 20 years of experience as a drama teacher. She has led national and international drama workshops with children and young people, as well as workshops on drama teaching, playwriting and dramaturgy. Currently working as a freelance drama teacher for Teatar Tirena, where she is also the international projects coordinator.

HOW TO LEARN HUNGARIAN HISTORY THROUGH ROLE-PLAYING

Teachers try to find different tools to engage all students in the educational process. INTROS AND OUTROS

How to start a lesson?

How to get the attention of the pupils?

How to bring them directly with their emotions and brains to the topic?

And how to end the lesson?

A good end is the best end.

In this talk, we will show you drama exercises that are helpful for the beginning and the end of a lesson. Exercises and games that will catch the attention and the heart of the pupils. Something to bring the topic of your lesson alive and to round it off. We will also share the experience of other colleagues of our school who are working with these methods.

Fabian Setznagel graduated from „Musisches Gymnasium Salzburg“ and studied Musicology at Edinburgh University. During these years he took part in several drama projects and performed in different choirs and orchestras. Currently he is a primary school teacher in Volksschule Corneliusgasse, Vienna, and participated in the teacher’s training The Art of Teaching.

Valentina Korbar

THE WATER MAN

Do we know who we are? How views of others influence our self-concept and self-esteem? How social norms affect our decisions? And do we say no when we don't want to do something? The workshop based on famous Slovenian poem The Water Man written by France Prešeren will explore these questions through various creative tasks and drama techniques.

The aim is to encourage educators to incorporate these activities in their distant learning process to make it more dynamic, creative and relational.

Valentina Korbar is a project leader in Taka Tuka Society. She is lawyer by education but has been part of educational theatre and drama community since her childhood. She leads workshops and training courses for teachers and teaching assistants in use of educational theatre and drama for learning and inclusion. She loves learning and working with people.
